About Us

If your scholar has the affinity to serve the community, grow as a leader, and build a strong foundation of excellence, this program is designed with them in mind.

We are dedicated to supporting 4th - 6th grade homeschoolers through educational hands-on programs and workshops delivered by industry professionals & experts. All gifted scholars will be enrolled in National Beta which meets after class once a month from 12:30pm-1:30pm and attend an etiquette lunch this semester.

With dedication, hard work, and a sprinkle of inspiration, the 2025-2026 YHSS Medical & Engineering Institute promises to be a transformative experience for all involved.

This drop-off program meets weekly on Tuesday from 10am-12:30pm. The program is delivered by medical professional, engineers and experts across different fields.

Our Philosophy

At YHSSA, we love seeing friends and siblings apply to our program together. These relationships are often a source of encouragement and motivation, and we welcome them with open arms.

One of our core goals is to help scholars grow as leaders, communicators, and members of a broader community. To support this growth, we intentionally seat siblings and close friends separately during class sessions and group activities.

Why This Is Beneficial

While it may feel unfamiliar at first, this practice is based on thoughtful educational principles:

• Promotes independence by encouraging scholars to engage with new peers and take initiative on their own

• Encourages relationship-building by helping children form connections with everyone in the program, not just those they already know

• Strengthens leadership skills through new social interactions and collaborative opportunities

• Fosters a unified community where social barriers are reduced and every scholar feels they belong

Friendships and family bonds remain important, and we enjoy seeing those connections flourish outside of structured class time. During sessions, however, creating space for individual growth helps every scholar thrive academically, socially, and personall

The Powerful Connection Between Engineering & Medicine

In today’s world, engineering and medicine are more connected than ever before, working hand-in-hand to solve complex problems and improve human lives. Engineers design the tools, devices, and systems that medical professionals rely on every day—from MRI machines and robotic surgical tools to prosthetics, wearable health trackers, and artificial organs. These are direct, life-changing innovations born from the fusion of both fields.

Indirectly, engineering also plays a key role in advancing medicine through data analysis, infrastructure, and software development. Biomedical engineers collaborate with doctors to develop cutting-edge diagnostic tools, while software engineers create health apps, telehealth platforms, and AI models that are transforming how we detect and treat disease.

As technology evolves at an unprecedented rate, the lines between these fields continue to blur. Breakthroughs in robotics, 3D printing, AI, and nanotechnology are rapidly pushing the boundaries of what’s possible in healthcare, making treatments faster, safer, and more personalized.

For today’s young minds, especially those gifted in math, science, and problem-solving, understanding the connection between engineering and medicine is more than just academic, it’s an invitation to be part of the future of innovation and healing.
